Yvek Klein Research

Yves Klein Notes

  • Invented this color blue, called International Klein Blue

  • He used it in a lot of his paintings, creating an abstract monochromatic art piece

  • Klein was inspired by the sky when he created this color blue; it all began when Klein and two of his art  friends were enjoying a beautiful day in France when they challenged themselves to split up the world into 3 sections, and Klein was assigned the sky.

  • Klein worked off his idea that the sky is a place of liberty, where individuals can be free from all the worries below

  • In the photo in which Klein is jumping into the air, he is really exhibiting the liberty that the sky provides us; he is telling us to jump into this freedom in the air through this photo.

  • Klein was curious about how humans connect their feelings to colors, and wondered how people may feel when they look at his blue

  • Klein was a significant artist in post-war era

  • One stand-out performance that Klein did was painted naked women in his blue color and made them press their body against a canvas, which was a very shocking approach to art in his generation.

  • His artwork is one of the most unique in that time period, or to ever be
