Three Robots: Exit Strategies
Sofia Mucci
"Three Robots: Exit Strategies" was the episode I found most intruiging from "Love, Death, and Robots". I enjoyed this film the most because it perfectly portrays economic differences in our world. I really like how the episode began in a minefield that demonstrated an economicaly disadvantaged lifestyle, which was extremly shocking to the robots. Additionally, I also found it very funny and ironic how the robots couldn't trust wealthy and powerful individuals, they called them greedy and selfish people. This resonates with myself because I did not grow up in a wealthy household, and it was always very common to resent those that flaunted and bragged their money towards everyone. This seems to be exactly how the robots felt in this episode, when they kept speaking badly aboout wealthy humans and referring to them as greedy. The technology in this film that impressed me the most was the triangle robot above. This robot had the ability to project any factual information, it was also able to express emotions, even though it probably can't feel emotions. I found this robot the most intriguing technological advancement shown in this episode. I believe this episode is portraying the future, for it is exhibiting how technology will take over the world eventually, leaving humans with nothing. It also portrays irony, that wealthy humans invented these technological robots, who ended up taking over their world and making them flee to a different planet. This epsiode shows how powerful the advancement of technology can be in our world.
Sofia, I too noticed the references to economic disparities found on earth by the 3 robots. Its interesting that while the 3 of them are so different both in size, personality, technology, data, and most likely in cost to manufacture, develop, and keep functioning, they are still sharing the same experiences with one another without judgement or exclusion. The humans however, failed to do this which led to their demise. Additionally, I wonder if you noticed anything else within this short. Maybe the all too realistic reference to the survivalists that worked to rid themselves of society and instead ending up becoming impaled or shot. The same applied to the group who migrated below ground. These scenarios both reference groups in our own history and current times that have opted to do the same to avoid disaster. I'd also disagree with your statement about 11 45 G (the triangle robot) not having any emotions. It would be interesting to argue whether a robot's manufactured emotions that in their own AI life form, feel and believe are true emotions while we know they were created by mankind's hands.
