 Blade Runner's 2019 Los Angeles helped define the American city of the future - Vox

  • “I think Sebastian, therefore I am.” - very powerful quote in movie 
  • Very important 
  • Can apply to humans as well 
  • Occurred during the Nexus phase: in which the world built robot replicants that looked and behaved like humans 
  • Police officers or the “blade runners” were needed to keep these replicant robots out of earth because they were dangerous 
  • The superhuman Nexus 6 replicant robots were designed to fight endeavors in planets other than earth, but when they began a mutiny in the colony of another planet, they were banned from Earth 
  • Setting is Los Angeles 2019 
  • Tyrell Corporation employs the Blade Runners 
  • Holden (one of the blade runners) interviews a new employee using a special device that can detect bodily and emotional responses to certain questions — this invention has a realistic possibility of developing for the future 
    • This machine made Lion, the interviewer, become extremely upset and violent to the point that he shot Holden —- why did this machine have such dangerous effects?

Sofia Mucci "Three Robots: Exit Strategies" was the episode I found most intruiging from "Love, Death, and Robots".  I enjoyed this film the most because it perfectly portrays economic differences in our world. I really like how the episode began in a minefield that demonstrated an economicaly disadvantaged lifestyle, which was extremly shocking to the robots. Additionally, I also found it very funny and ironic how the robots couldn't trust wealthy and powerful individuals, they called them greedy and selfish people. This resonates with myself because I did not grow up in a wealthy household, and it was always very common to resent those that flaunted and bragged their money towards everyone. This seems to be exactly how the robots felt in this episode, when they kept speaking badly aboout wealthy humans and referring to them as greedy. Yves Klein Notes Invented this color blue, called International Klein Blue  He used it in a lot of his paintings, creating an abstract monochromatic art piece  Klein was inspired by the sky when he created this color blue; it all began when Klein and two of his art  friends were enjoying a beautiful day in France when they challenged themselves to split up the world into 3 sections, and Klein was assigned the sky.  Klein worked off his idea that the sky is a place of liberty, where individuals can be free from all the worries below  In the photo in which Klein is jumping into the air, he is really exhibiting the liberty that the sky provides us; he is telling us to jump into this freedom in the air through this photo.  Klein was curious about how humans connect their feelings to colors, and wondered how people may feel when they look at his blue  Klein was a significant artist in post-war era One stand-out performance that Klein did was painted naked w...
